Hawaii Pre-Travel Testing Overview

Important! - Please Read


As of October 15, 2020, each member of your party five years and older is required to provide a negative Covid test result from a Hawaii-approved testing facility upon arrival in Hawaii unless you are vaccinated.

**Update July 15, 2021**Members of your party five years and older who have received a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine and arriving 15 days after their last dosage was administered are exempt from pre-travel testing.

If you do not have your printed or electronic test results to present at the airport in Hawaii you will be subject to 10-day quarantine even if the results become available while in Hawaii.. To ensure a smooth and expedited arrival, please follow the steps below.

KBM Resorts has prepared the following information based on actual guest experiences arriving into Hawaii under the new Pre Travel Testing Program to ensure your arrival is smooth and hassle-free.



Book Your Itinerary
____ 1. Book your vacation rental with KBM resorts by phone (808)-568-3270 or online www.kbmhawaii.com
____ 2. Book your airfare and rental car.
____ 3. Go to the Hawaii Safe Travels travel.hawaii.gov/#/welcome website and enter your personal, vacation rental, and flight information from steps one and two above.


No Sooner Than 72 Hours Prior to Departure
____ 4. To avoid a mandatory 10-day quarantine, perform a Covid test for each member in your party five years and older from a Hawaii-approved testing facility at www.hawaiiCovid19.com/travel-partners. Members of your party five years and older who have received a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine and arriving 15 days after their last dosage was administered are exempt from pre-travel testing (this step).
             

24 Hours before your flight
___ 5. Return to Hawaii Safe Travels travel.hawaii.gov/#/welcome website and complete the pre-flight questionnaire, and upload the a PDF of each negative Covid test result or vaccine documentation card.
___ 6. You will receive an email with a bar code. You must bring this email with the bar code with you to the airport. You can either print the email or show it on your phone or tablet.


When you land
___ 7. Before deplaning the Hawaii National Guard will take your temperature to screen for fever conditions
___ 8. At the screening area, show your bar code, driver license, and proof of negative Covid test - have them ready in your hand or on your phone/tablet. You will receive documentation you have cleared Covid screening, carry it with you at all times to confirm you are not required to quarantine.
___ 9. Head to baggage and your luggage will be waiting for you to pick up.

Prior to Departure



Q: If I have been vaccinated do I need to take a covid test prior to departure?

A: Members of your party five years and older who have received a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine and arriving 15 days after their last dosage was administered are exempt from pre-travel testing.

Q: How long does it take to get test results?

A: Most facilities provide test results electronically in 24-48 hours of administration

Q: What if I don't receive my test results before my flight departs to Hawaii?

A: If you do not receive your test results prior to departure, you may still board your flight as scheduled. However, upon arrival in Hawaii, if you results are still not available by the time you approach the screening desk at the airport to process your paperwork, you will be required to quarantine for 10 days even if your results become available after exiting the airport.

Q: When do I take the Covid test?

A: 72 hours or less from your departure time to Hawaii. We recommend taking the test on the third day prior to departure assuming a 24-72 hour response time:

Q: Where do I schedule my Covid test?

A: Your test MUST be from a Hawaii-approved testing facility or your will NOT be granted entry. The current list of Hawaii-approved testing facilities is found at www.hawaiiCovid19.com/travel-partners

Q: Is the test painful?

A: Most tests are a simple self-administered nasal swab of the tip of your nose - fast, easy, and painless.

Q: Do children have to be tested?

A: All guests five and older are required to provide negative test results.

Q: How much does the test cost?

A: Tests range from $0 - $175 depending on location and test provider. Consult your insurance carrier for coverage and testing locations.

Q: Can I provide a Covid Antibody test instead of a FDA-approved NAAT test processed by a CLIA certified lab?

A: No.

Q: Do I need a doctor's order to take the test?

A: No.

Q: Can I take the test after I arrive in Hawaii?

A: No.

Q: What happens if the test is positive? Can I reschedule?

A: Yes, if you or anyone staying with you in your KBM Resorts villa receives a positive Covid result you may apply your total balance to a future visit within 24 months of your original departure date subject to seasonal rates.

Upon Landing In Hawaii



Q: What is the process upon landing in Hawaii?

A: Upon arrival:

   - Guests will undergo a touchless temperature scan at their arrival gate.
   - Guests with temperatures of 100.4 and above will be taken to secondary screening and offered a COVID-19 PCR test with results available generally after 24-48 hours.
   - Guests will complete the State of Hawai'i Safe Travels travel and health form, found at https://travel.hawaii.gov
   - If the guest has a printout of their negative result but has not yet uploaded it on the Safe Travels digital system at https://travel.hawaii.gov, airport screeners will take a photo of the hard-copy negative test result


Q: Can I rent a car without proof of a negative Covid test?

A: No.

Q: Can I quarantine (if required) in the villa I have rented?

A: Most KBM Resort villas are approved for quarantine, contact your KBM Guest Ambassador at guestservices@kbmhawaii.com to confirm.

Q: Can I leave my quarantine villa while quarantined and use resort facilities?

A: No. If turned in by another guest or security, the penalty is a $5,000 fine, no warnings are given.

While On Island



Q: Does Hawaii practice social distancing protocols?

A: Yes

Q: Where do I have to wear a mask?

A: As a general rule, Hawaii requires a mask to be worn if you are within 6 feet of other guests that are not in your traveling party. Therefore, no mask is required provided you keep a 6 foot distance from other guests.

Q: Are restaurants open?

A: Most restaurants are open for inside, outside, or take-out dining.

Q: Are the gyms open?

A: Yes, most gyms are open and a mask is required only if within 6' of other guests

Q: Are the spas open?

A: Yes, most spas are open and a mask is required only if within 6' of other guests

Q: Are activities open like luaus and boat tours?

A: Yes, most activities are open and a mask is required only if within 6' of other guests

Q: Where on the island can I get tested if I feel ill?

A: If you feel ill during your visit there are several testing facilities near your KBM Resorts villa with extended testing hours.
